why compost

One of the biggest complaints people have about composting is that it smells. And in some cases this is true. When organic materials are stacked in a pile and left to sit, they essentially putrefaction, and we all know that the rotten food and plants are going to smell. But did you know that composting does not have to stink? It's true! In this article we will explain three simple steps anyone can follow to go from bad odor to odor-free compost.

The first step in composting toilet is to understand the two basic methods of composting: aerobic and anaerobic. As the name suggests, the aerobic composting requires air, specifically oxygen, which was successful. anaerobic composting, however, is what happens when the compound is not exposed to air.

The major differences between aerobic and anaerobic composting is the decomposition rate and the scent created. Aerobic bacteria work very quickly and efficiently. Compost is adequately ventilated can be decomposed into a finished product in one or two months, under the right conditions. anaerobic bacteria, on the other hand are very inefficient, sometimes taking as long as a couple years to produce compost. Anaerobic bacteria also produce methane gas and sulfate as a byproduct of the composting process. These gases are harmful to the environment, are greenhouse gases that deplete the ozone layer ours. Moreover, these are the gases that unpleasant odor to humans. When thinking about a lot of smelly compost, we are really thinking is anaerobic composting. Aerobic bacteria, however, do not produce these gases, hence the reason that Aerobic composting results in little or no odor.

One of the best ways to ensure that your compost is aerobic is to use a cup of compost. These devices drum-shaped are usually mounted on a shaft that can rotate or rotate freely. The action of turning compost and fall into the tank aerates the material, provided that oxygen necessary for aerobic bacteria to do their job.

If you do not have a glass of compost, or simply do not want to invest in one, can encourage bacterial growth aerobically in a regular compost pile by simply turning the material on a regular basis. You may want to invest in a long-handled tool, like a big shovel or fork to make the process easier to convert. Whether you have a glass of compost or a compost heap basic, you should try to turn the material every 2 to 3 days for best results.

The second step in the odorless composting is to maintain the proper ratio of brown and green waste. Examples of browns, or carbon-rich materials include dried leaves, shredded paper, sawdust, and lint from the dryer. Examples of green, or nitrogen-rich materials include clippings green lawn, vegetable or fruit peels, cooked rice and pasta, and algae or other plants in the aquarium. If you get the compost with green again, the material start to smell. This is easily adjustable by simply adding more brown. In addition to the items listed above, others may include brown peat, pencil shavings, shredded paper napkins, coffee grounds, chopped hay or straw, potting soil, nut shells, and tea bags. finished compost also act as a brown material.

The third and final step to avoid smelly compost bin is to keep all meat, eggs, and products milk. When proteins of these products break down, create an unpleasant odor. You should also avoid fatty wastes such as butter, lard, cooking oils, lard and other animal fats.

And that's all there! With three simple steps, you can change your compost pile in a smelly and slow lean, and mean system resulting compost within weeks. What are you waiting for you? Start composting toilet system today!
